Perhaps it is unnecessary for you to attend the meeting? Or perhaps the Board thinks that it is safe to go on without your presence. Either way, on your behalf, i would say that the School Board is very indifferent to you and your co-teachers. That is just so wrong.

Until the law is changed I would ask the district for the list of newspapers and other media that do get the notices, then ask one of them to alert you when they get their notice.

We publish a monthly paper in our small town of 3500.   Last November we requested in writing from the School Board to receive notice of Special Meetings which normally only have 24 hours notice.  I hand delivered the request to the Administrative secretary.

There were a couple of meetings that they didn't notify us of, then after a few informal talks the school district began notifying us.

Then they had a meeting in July that we were NOT notified of.  We sent a correct and cure letter.  Mostly because they were so hit and miss in the past with their compliance regarding the Brown Act period.

I just received a letter informing me that they had never received a written request, and that once we give such written request we need to provide sufficient information to show that we meet the definition of "newspaper of general circulation".

I've tried looking up the definition. I think technically we aren't  because we aren't published weekly, but I also think that since they had lived up to the request in the past there may be some precedence.

Suggestions?  Help?

How do we get notification of meetings in 24 hours if we don't meet the definition?  I guess I could call the school daily to see if they've posted.

I have a copy of the unsigned letter that I delivered.
