    AUDITOR’S EXPERIENCE
The agency sent copies of all documents produced and charges the auditor $16.50 for the copies. The request was only for copies of #9 and #10. The auditor should not have been charged for copies of the other materials. Narrative: Walked into the department about 1 p.m., the person at the window said I had to wait for the records woman to come back from lunch. She was back about two minutes later. When I told her I had a public records act request, she said that unfortunately she was the only one there, and she would see what my requests were. There is no records department at the station, she said, and she was busy catching up on stuff from the weekend. Good thing we have 10 days, she said. She also said she I had to fill out a form and show my ID to make sure you are who you say you are. Form: Section 1: Allow 10 days; type of report or incident; case number; date of occurrence; name of the victim; driver; insured To receive the requested report or information, you must provide details and pay the applicable fees. You are required to provide positive identification. You may be required to have your fingerprints taken. If a records search is necessary, and it is later determined you cannot receive the information, the fees will not be refunded. I am requesting the information because: (All were boxes to check if the requester was involved in the crime/accident, except for the last box that was for members of the press/media) Reason requesting information: I had to sign the form under penalty of perjury that I am the party of interest as indicated above. I had to provide my name/address/phone number; as well as the name of the company/agency I was with and my address, city, state, zip code She didn t know what the Form 700 was, and when I asked if there was anyone available who did, she said the chief was in training all day and no one else knew what it was. She said she would have to sort through crime reports on her computer and that it would take some time. She said nothing would be available that day and that she would call when it was ready. She also checked my driver s license. She didn t know until I left that I was representing a newspaper. I put it on the form, but she didn t read it until I left.
